Hack: Remove the Website Field From the Comment Form

I think it depends on the theme, but by default you usually see name, email and website as three additional fields at the bottom of all of your posts under Leave a Reply. I guess back in the early days of blogging, everyone had a website. Now in the era of social media, we are back to only the chosen few, like us, who have actual websites. The inclusion of a website field doesn’t make sense anymore, if it ever did.

It is fairly easy to get rid of this extra field. Just a quick filter added to your functions.php or custom plugin will do it.

add_filter('comment_form_default_fields','filter_comment_form_default_fields');
function filter_comment_form_default_fields($fields) {
	unset($fields['url']);
	return $fields;
}
